Olympic Swimming Pool

In 2012 the South East London Meccano Club decided to hold several events to coincide with the Olympic Games coming to London later that year, including an ‘Olympic Games’ Secretary’s Challenge.

My model for the challenge was an Olympic-size swimming pool complete with ‘water’ made from florists’ water beads.

Turning the red handle would rotate the arms of a swimmer in the water so that he looked like he was doing the backstroke. If you look closely at the photo above you’ll see that he has a very good incentive to swim quickly!
